American Red Squirrel Portrait

The American red squirrel (Tamiasciurus hudsonicus) is a year round resident of the Canadian Boreal and lower alpine forests. They are curious and very terrirtorial. This one followed me for a ways while I was birding in a lodgepole pine forest killed by mountain pine beetle in Jasper National park in Alberta Canada.
